UNSW Professor Flambaum Wins Premier's Prize

Our very own Scientia Professor Victor Flambaum has won the 2015 Premier's Prize for Science and Engineering in the category "Excellence in Mathematics, Earth Sciences, Chemistry and Physics".
Among the achievements listed in the citation for the award are:
- suggested new highly efficient methods for the astrophysical and laboratory search for space-time variation of the fundamental constants and dark matter
- developed new schemes for super-precise atomic, ionic and nuclear clocks needed for next-generation technology
- created a general theory of chaotic quantum systems which will have a huge impact on thermonuclear reactor performance
